The author, Ernie Richards, was born in Liverpool, studied English at Cambridge, and taught at the I.M. Marsh College in Liverpool (now part of the Liverpool John Moores University,) then was Principal of Urchfont Manor Adult Residential College in Wiltshire. He has written two books on Shakespeare, one on William Blake and Jerusalem and two on the history of the Women's Institute.
