Inscription to front endpaper. Boards have been moderately rub worn, with noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed and spine ends are crushed, with small splits and chips. Book has a forward lean. Tanning to spine and edges. The unclipped dust jacket has moderate edge wear, tears and chips to edges and spine ends. Tanning to spine and edges. Sticker to front.

Der Hortus Eystettensis, verfasst von dem Apotheker, Botaniker, Illustrator und Verleger Basilius Besler aus Nürnberg (1561-1629) war ein großformatiges Prachtwerk das in 2 oder 3 Foliobänden erstmals 1613 erschienen ist. Besler arbeitete ca. 7 Jahre an dem Buch und stellte um die 12 Graveure ein, die auf 367 Platten mit über 1000 Botanischen Motiven gravierten. Der Auftraggeber für dieses Werk war Johann Conrad von Gemmingen, Fürstbischof von Eichstätt.
